Goodwins theory

Andrew Goodwin was born in Hillingdon, Middlesex. For 31 years he was a director of music

Goodwin's theory is based on six main principles:

• Link between visuals and lyrics
• Link between music and visuals(complimentary, contradicting, amplification)
• Genre characteristics 
• Intertexual reference
• Notions of looking e.g objectification of women
• Demands of record label e.g representations of the artist

 Also Goodwin stated that there are three types of music videos:

• performance-based
• narrative-based
• concept-based
